I don't wanna repeat what others said or gifed. We all watched the same thing, we just process it differently. And that's okay. That's the power of art and fiction. And I don't claim my point of view to be in any way unique. Au contraire, I know and I hope I'm not alone
For a couple of nights now when I lie in bed and fall asleep, I imagine that someone kind, wise and loving watches over me. I'm an atheist and agnostic but I'm this close to believe in Yggdrasil being the true shape of the known universe and Loki in its core holding it all together. There aren't many stories that would impact my imagination that way, so to me that's impressive.
I never expected a Marvel series or movie to go this deep. Not because it's a superhero franchise but because Marvel never really allowed it. From the beginning they tried to make things easier to understand and to pack into a movie length sequence. In my personal opinion, Tom Hiddleston added depth with his brilliant performance and delivery in every scene and shot like no one else in the entire franchise, but I'm a long time fan and I am obviously biased. I think now that in Thor his performance was a tool to show Loki's otherness but it quickly became a key to this character. He could go differently about the scene with Odin or the scene with Thor on the Bifröst, but he didn't and thus determined Loki's future.
This journey was chaotic and truly Loki's. Closing this chapter feels significant. It's also finally satisfying though in a bittersweet way. But cinema is meant to make you feel real emotions, art is meant to do that. The appreciation of something is possible because of how the absence of that thing feels.
The combo of cinematography, special effects, music and cast couldn't be more perfect and reached peak in season 2. There are some good quotes and noticeable dialogues, but the most important things lay in the moments of silence, in the movements of faces and bodies, in the framing of a shot. You don't need to name things out loud for them to exist. You have to sit and reflect and define those things yourself, for yourself. This way the artist compliments the viewer's intelligence.

that last anon... it's your kiseki gifsets and they're incredibly tame, i feel like calling making gifs of those two scenes fetishization is honestly reaching. they're two cute moments that happen in the series. it'd be different if you were gifing JUST their intimate scenes or you only made content from intimate scnees but the fact that you have, what, three kiseki gifsets in total and only two of those are kissing scenes out of the numerous intimate scenes the series has doesn't mean you're fetishizing them. i think you're pretty safe, don't let that anon deter you from creating more content.
oh! okay, i see why they thought that, then. i didn't realise that making gifs of just those scenes could be considered a bad thing, but i can see where the other anon was coming from, i think.
and there is a reason that i only giffed what episodes of kdtm that i had on my laptop at the time, and it's bc i ran out of space and photoshop wouldn't export gifs unless i deleted episode of anything i had downloaded (which included all of the original cherry magic, i was so sad). but, i bought an external hard drive a few days ago so i'm slowly getting back to downloading the shows i enjoy making gifs for. which isn't relevant but i feel like maybe it contextualises things a little.
i do intend on making more kiseki gifs in the future and i definitely don't intend on giffing JUST the intimate scenes, that's never my intention with any show i gif for. i will admit, when i got that anon, i felt sick to my stomach about it, but upon reflection, i can see what they mean but also i know myself that i'm not fetishising people or characters or scenes.
thank you sm for reaching out bc you made me feel a lot better, i was kind of spiralling a little!

How are you, Boo? Just want to check in on you.
And another anon:
I’m so sorry to hear you feel burnt out. I hope that’s just when it comes to gifing and watching the disappointing shows we’ve been getting (some were disappointing for their storylines others for their premature cancellation and others for their fanbases). I hope you are still finding joy in other things! Please know we don’t just love you for your gifs (as great as they are!). No spoilers but I have a lot of non-Ellen/Pam feelings about FAMK 3x10 I want to share with you, but I’ll save them for after I know you’ve had a chance to watch.
Hey! It’s super nice of you two to reach out.
Kinda feeling the same as I wrote last, not feeling up to watching much. I’m still on the fics and a few other things, though they seem like temporary replacements while I wait this out, I guess.
I wouldn’t even say any of the shows were disappointing, or not more so than usual, I think it’s just me. I went back to see the last time I watched three eps of a show in a row and it was when I was catching up on Made for Love more than a month ago.
I mentioned I’d see how I felt when ALOTO came out and for a bit I was really hyped! Thursday night, let’s watch, got half an ep in before I hopped over to the FAMK finale, and then I just couldn’t find it in myself to return to ALOTO. Even though the half I watched I really loved! It was delightful, funny, lots of women, seemed quite f/f-y, and most of all, the characters had personalities. And given what other people have been saying and the many, many blacklisted (for spoilers) posts I’m seeing go by, it does seem quite great! I just... not right now.
I remember when people used to say, oh, you know how you have to be in a certain mood to watch something, the stars have to align, and I would be like, not me, I’ll watch every new show the moment it’s out. Now I just find them intimidating. :x
Same with asks, I actually opened my inbox because I wanted to talk about the FAMK finale but I got three and was like, that’s enough of that. I saw the second ask above, and same, had so many feelings about the non-Ellen/Pam stuff but just...you know. Didn’t feel up to it.
But, I’m here now. I’m really unhappy again, lol, about the deaths! Especially in how random and pointless a way they were done. Also, did we ever see Karen talk to Kelly about the baby? If anything, they could have really played up her grandchild being born and her still dying but the focus was just on Jimmy?? If I have to continue putting up with these Stevens siblings in s4.... Lmao at Ed being like, you’re telling me you’re a massive, lying screw up with a death wish and think that’ll convince me to send my pregnant daughter with you? There isn’t a lot I loved about this season but Ed’s protective streak and more importantly, love for Kelly, were up there.
And MOLLY? I loved her being brought back but if they were gonna do it just for a very random fade to gray death, why do it at all?? “We gotta write these actresses off even though their characters will be in their 60s/70s and could easily have just retired, like how we kept Molly off screen for most of this season. Yes, the only answer is death.” I mean, I get that they wanted Molly to go out heroically, dying as she lived, but then at least write her a heroic scenario. Still, I was touched by the smoke closing over her, of course. I’m not above being emotionally manipulated!
The Margo thing, god. Y’all know how I’ve felt about this the whole time. I couldn’t have foreseen this, though, lol, but it’s definitely a hilarious way to bring about new dramatic tension for another season. But unless they bring Ellen and Pam back, I’m not sure I’ll even really be paying attention for s4.

Pls share your thoughts about the gays in THAT scene… I would love to read them!
Ahh you are too kind, I am but a little swiss cheese brain but I'll try my best to sum up my thoughts, I have too many! I wanted a chance to grab some screenshots too! I'm going to put a read more because this is a long one buckle up lads.
So obviously the whole punishment for Hickey is designed to humiliate him (I would imagine this is one of the reasons his punishment isn't explained to him, because if Hickey truly was a naval petty officer he would know, and I think it's another way for Crozier to essentially say "I see you" and not in a good way). The fact we're not shown the other whippings shows the importance lies in the scene with Hickey.
I've seen a bit of discussion about his charge of "dirtiness", which isn't listed initially when we see him being questioned by the Captains, and whether or not it alludes to homosexuality but on a quick cursory search it does seem to have been used as a euphemism where an outright accusation of sodomy would mean a death sentence. The way Crozier throws it out there, no doubt to heap the humiliation onto Hickey and add crimes to the list to cover the fact he added lashes on to the punishment essentially for a bruised ego (but that's another matter), suggests a whole lot of venom to the accusation. Hickey's pointed look at Irving and Irving's quick shift of his gaze down suggests they both know exactly why Crozier has listed this among Hickey's list of crimes, and Hickey looks furious for it.
But I think this is also ultimately where the panic begins to set in. Again, there are far greater minds than me who have made excellent posts about queer coded characters in the terror, and I think it's no surprise that most of them are the faces that are focused on in this scence. It is clear long before this moment that Crozier's leadership is lacking, and people have already begun to voice concerns fairly loudly. Tozer for one is livid in the wake of Heather being injured, and the marines have clearly started distancing themselves from both the officers and the men. I feel like this scene, for a lot of characters is a point of major shift in either allegiences or character.
Tozer and the Captains are the first faces that are panned to in this scene and I think the expressions speak for themselves.
Tozer is visibly upset/concerned after the first lash. I do think guilt probably has a part to play, in that is was him whole told Hickey where Silna was, and presumably approved enough of the plan to not rat him out to anyone. Again, very probably part of Tozer's anger at Heather being injured due to what he sees is Crozier's poor management. Fitzjames is stoney faced, but is also the only one looking. As a man who many have noted pushes himself to pick emotional scabs, I think it would make sense for someone who is also notably queer coded and stuggles with trauma to make himself look directly at someone being whipped for a crime he himself might commit. Crozier isn't even looking, whether out of suddenly doubting his harshness or simply triggering something in his own memory it's not clear. I think the end of this shot also speaks for itself.
(Fig 1. Three Concerned (very likely not straight) men contemplate)
The lads at the back behind Mr. Johnson are all looking Directly At the whipping as it is taking place. Interestingly none of the men at the front near the table are looking. This is the stewards, officers, and marines. Whether out of respect or also Concern at their own skins (I think every one of these characters has been addressed as being queer coded at some point, minus the marines who are all, except Tozer, fairly nameless characters).
I'm not a gifmaker which is unfortunate for this section, though this is what is gifed in the beautiful gifset by sashneeka I reblogged (x). Tommy is also visibly upset, whether because he knows Tozer was involved in the plot to kidnap Silna and is concerned for him and any of the rest of the crew who had assisted in someway or voiced support. Billy interestingly does look briefly, and sets his jaw after in a way that suggests he's trying to fight the guilt of being the one to tell Irving about the whole affair with Hickey to paint himself in a better light. It could just as easily be Billy there on that table being lashed, but he somehow rationalises it in his head (probably because Hickey is a little bastard) that he was right in what he did. He does look down fairly guiltily after this, so maybe he hasn't quite settled on an opinion. Jopson also looks incredibly concerned/unsettled, and interestingly looks at Hickey right up until the whip hits where he flinches, and not for the only time in this scene. From what we know about Jopson's past, though not at this point, it may well be he is remembering similar punishment/mistreatment and like Fitzjames looks enough to pick the scab open and flinch from his own trauma.
The closeup of Hickey shows the full extent of his rage and humiliation building, and as I think Adam himself said, they whipped something out of Hickey that day and let him reach this potential that lay inside him (to become an even bigger bastard). He's fully severed all ties and feelings of loyalty after this and it becomes full on train to manipulation station from this point. I have a lot of Thoughts about Hickey also (which I am sure you are all aware of) but I think there was some semblance of Hickey attempting to start afresh on this journey, or at the very least keep his head down and go unnoticed. The trouble is, he notices Crozier as a flawed man, and one not from the upper classes like himself, and his ego can't help but think we're not so different, that could be me with the right connections. Well surprise lads, its murder time now and he's gonna make this old man pay for not recognising initiative but punishing it. I do wonder if Crozier wasn't booze sick and rattled from losing even more men under his command, would he not have come down so harshly for someone clearly defying the Articles to do what he thinks is right and save the men (a la Crozier and his fuck you I'm directly contradicting an order and leading this rescue party myself).
Tozer gets another wee closeup here and again looks like he has resolved something in his head too. Most likely that he thinks Crozier an unfit leader, and admiring Hickey for having the balls to do what he did (Hickey also never reveals anyone else who came with him, and when he talks about Hartnell and Mason's part in taking Silna it highlights their skill and bravery and (he thinks) commends them to the Captain. It's probably the only time we see him building up and applauding others). He looks dead ahead here and seems to have a very steely gaze, like yep fuck it looks like I'm going it alone now. It is interesting that Tozer goes from this to notably disliking Hickey (both at the start and when they are packing up - "you've just given me an excuse to give a big shove". This might be anger at Hickey having caused all the issues with Silna after the fact when Heather gets killed at Carnivale), but still follows him in the end. Hickey has the ability to kill, manipulate, steal, basically do whatever needed for their group to get ahead, which means Tozer can be part of the group and not have to dirty his own hands. I think Tozer probably has a complicated relationship with Hickey, but he does fall for the charm hook, line, and sinker, and the fact he seems concerned for him here suggests how easily he is sympathetic to those he sees as being wronged.
Gibby getting Hickey's blood on his hand (ayy) seems to visibly make him blanch, and I do find it interesting that the shot then pans to Tommy as though they are looking at each other when they are stood side by side. The similarities between them maybe? (I've seen and reblogged a lot of discourse about Tommy loving Tozer, maybe another nod to no one being so different to the man on the table?) Irving doesn't get much of a close up in the rest of this scene but bless him he looks equal parts terrified and guilty (another man who has been noted as having a list of many things to distract from the Gay Thoughts like why do you need to distract from Gay Thoughts Irving?). He also has the Far Off Look of trauma about him, probably because he too could just as easily be on that table.
I have many many thoughts about the way Hickey turns to look (and fucking smile???) at Crozier next, which is when Crozier is looking directly at him and Fitzjames looks at him. Like if I were Crozier I think my fucking blood would chill, look at this man. Being humiliated and lashed still hasn't broken him, if anything he has just become fully unhinged and looks at Crozier as though to say "did you really think this would work?". I would also say, this man has fairly quite for someone who is at this stage something like 22 lashes in? Like what the actual fuck Hickey?? I fully belive Hickey to be a psycopath, and most of what he does in the beginning of the series is an attempt to stay hidden until they get to Hawaii and he can ditch the crew, but I think it is fairly safe to say he isn't hiding it any more.
And he knows this is going to make the men doubt Crozier - I can't do a proper search because I am using my work laptop atm, but I seem to remember reading that a punishment greater than 12 lashes required a court martial (probably why Little steps in to say so when Crozier orders his punishment as well as them technically being lost at sea), which would be another strike against him as a Captain. Not only that, but Crozier does seem to grant him some mercy in letting him only be lashed I think 23 or so times? Probably because the tension is fucking palpable in this whole scene and Crozier can either choose to claw back some sense of control on the matter, or deal with the consequences of many people admiring Hickey for what he has done for the crew and start a mutiny. I think this is the first time Fitzjames sees the damage Crozier is doing to himself with his choices as Captain, and is probably just as concerned at the look Hickey is giving him. He knows this has unleashed something in this tiny rat bastard too, and that he will become the physical manifestation of Crozier's self-destructive tendancies. Crozier perpetually comes to everything just a fraction too late to change anything - he never saves any of the men, only comforts them as they die, and a lot of this has to do with his own ego and bad decision making, and I think this is the first example here of the fact his actions are having an effect on others to the point it will be his downfall.
Anyway, to round it off, I think this scene really epitomises the notion that Hickey is a mirror to the rest of the men, and they see their flaws in him. Those who have questioned Crozier's captaincy look concernced knowing they too could be being lashed. They too would have tried to get Silna to stop the Tuunbaq hunting them. Those who are queer or queer coded know they too could be being lashed for it. Crozier himself sees his unwillingness to follow the Articles in him, sees his own insubordination, and feels what Sir John meant when he said his position afforded him deference. Hickey may as well be a metaphor for all the men being lashed, theres not one among them who haven't voiced wanting to do what he has done. Let them without sin and all that. This is make or break for who holds loyalty to the Captain, and the turning point for who is going where. I think everyone except Jopson, Irving and Fitzjames ends up in the mutineers camp, and Irving ends up killed and mutilated by Hickey and Fitzjames is scavanged by them. Theres not one of them that isn't haunted by what happened in this scene, and Hickey would end up being the death of every single one of them. The only one who remains loyal after this is Jopson, who thinks his care and duty to the Captain can outweigh his other sins. Fitzjames and Crozier have a stronger relationship once he recovers from his withdrawal, yes, but Fitzjames also keeps him in check now (I'm thinking of Edward Little being threatened with flogging again because of course I am), and it is another step too late for Crozier's self-destruction. I've seen a Hickey/Fitzjames Christ analogy on here before too, so I hope you'll forgive me in comparing them, but Hickey in this scene really does get punished for everyone else's crimes in this scene, and becomes a sort of Christ-like figure, reborn as a complete version of the worst of himself from the pain of being lashed. They whipped something out of him!! Anyway, that about sums it up!

I hope you don't mind, but I have to get this off my chest, especially with all the posts going around concerning Spiderman and the MCU and Tom Holland's "Spiderman". I came into this world a big Spiderman fan. I love his stories, and I love him. He's amazing and fun, and McGuire's and Garfield's movies are a treat. I stayed away from the MCU because I did not hear good things. But I remember basically being forced by friends of a friend to watch Far From Home when it came out and the movie isn't good, at all. This isn't news, I know, and the Peter/Spiderman as we know him is wildly OOC. Some were excited that with Iron Man dead and gone, Peter could finally have the spotlight without Mr Stank hogging it. Maybe even mention a certain uncle who impacted his being a superhero. Unsurprisingly Peter mourns and the movie still heavily focuses on Tony, and he's even responsible for more villains and the stuff that happens with Peter at the end of the movie. But it never once frames Tony as having done something horribly wrong. And still no mention of beloved uncle Ben Parker, the normal man with the kind heart who influenced Peter in many other (and better) stories. But anyway. Far From Home was Far From Good. Usually and historically, when Aunt May finds out that Peter is Spiderman, it's treated with delicacy and severity, especially because usually when she knows, that means she's about to die. Insomniac's Spiderman handles this incredibly and it's heart-wrenching. The sequel to that game starring Miles where his mom finds out is handled beautifully too. But here, it's treated so comedically that I honestly felt empty-headed no thoughts at first. Just couldn't process it. One big complaint I see about Spiderman movies, especially MCU is not being able to have him be SpiderMAN, as in an adult and not a boy stuck in high school. Of course Far From Home has Peter and nearly most of his high school get snapped and then ultimately returned back to high school. At least with McGuire and Garfield, they eventually in their sequels got to grow a little. Holland is perpetually stuck as a dumb kid in high school. It's insane. But so, Holland goes on an expensive Europe trip. At some point he meets Jake Gyllenhaal and immediately trusts him. A mistake we've all made. Mr Stank left him drone striking glasses for some idiotic reason, almost kills his class in a scene upsettingly played for laughs, then gives them to Jake because the movie needs him to, and because the MCU loves making Peter Parker a supremely dumbed down stupid needy kid who can't think for himself or show a modicum of intelligence. One scene that jarred me so badly that I couldn't see color for several minutes was when Peter went to go buy MJ some replica of a necklace from an old movie she liked. When he was in the shop looking at it with longing eyes, I laughed to myself, "He has that look until he realizes it's too expensive for him." But no, cut to him having bought it with no struggle. It made my eyes boggle. My jaw dropped. Who is this kid, able to buy some rare crystal necklace with no problem? That's not Peter Parker. I'm well aware the movie has far worse things about it (as mentioned), but it was at that point I realized they purposefully don't care about Spiderman. From the ground up the MCU took this character and systemically reworked him and rebuilt him into this.... thing. This milquetoast little rich jerkoff with no regard for anything meaningful. The true Spiderman we know and love will always exist and continue to exist, and touch the hearts of many who love him for the wonder that he is. But what the MCU has put onto our screens... what they dared to say is Spiderman... is not Spiderman. That is not, nor will he ever be the man that I love. The day will come when I get my vengeance for those responsible for this. After all, with great power comes great responsibility.
oh, i agree with you 100%
one post that is going around has a wonderful analysis of the problem with removing any kind of monetary struggle from peter's story, and the OP mentioned it's because they couldn't make the movie "fun" if they mentioned the parkers are poor. but honestly, i don't think that's the case - the original spiderman movies WERE fun! not only were they fun, they were incredibly memorable! from the movie having peter chase after the school bus to the final scene in the cemetery, the original spiderman movie (and its sequels) left an impression on everyone who watched them.
but, honestly, can anybody remember a single scene from the first mcu spiderman movie? any worth remembering, worth gifing, worth memeing? spiderman isn't allowed to exist as a character because from his very introduction, he is forced to have tony as a crutch. he's not allowed to exist without tony's (and the avengers') influence. he can't even have his own movie without some outsider influence (tony or nick fury or stephen strange) acting as an overseer.
which is like??? completely opposed to the original character.... so to make it work, they have to completely throw away any personality peter had. in doing so they just... completely erased the character along the way
there is nothing in any of the tom holland movies that marks the mcu peter as a peter parker. he doesn't have peter's wits, his sarcasm, his attitude, his backstory... hell, he doesn't even have his own costume or his own plotline or his own villains. peter's villains are people slighted by tony stark, or apparently people coming from other dimensions (already with their own personalities and backstories fleshed out by a more competent group of writers). a peter parker who goes to a fancy private school, who can buy gifts for his girlfriend or throw away backpacks and clothes whenever he wants because he knows he can just buy new ones, who doesn't even need to make his own tech, who doesn't need to work to supply for his family; what does he have in common with ANY version of peter, aside from the name and moniker? and all because kevin feige had his face surgically attached to rdj's crotch like in the human centipede so he could be sucking rdj's dick 24/7...

I’m confused is the Darkling in the show only going to be referred to as Kirigan? So he will not at all be referred to as the Darkling? And what abt Alexander Morozova? Damn I’m so confused how I’m supposed to tag him when I reblog edits LMAO
Ok so I guess this could be considered extremely spoilery for new fans who haven’t read any books so I’m gonna use a cut again haha. If you don’t want to know potential twists don’t read on!
In the books Alina is introduced to him as the Darkling. At the time, she believes that there is one Darkling at a time (and there have been several throughout history) and the Darkling is a super-powerful, shadow-summoning Grisha. It’s a title of honor and power and he leads the Grisha in Ravka and has a spot at the royal court. But the problem is that an earlier Darkling, hundreds of years ago, created the Shadow Fold. He’s known as the Black Heretic, and all Darklings since have worked to undo his damage.
The Darkling and Alina operate as allies in these early stages and she starts to fall for him. But she learns later that all of the above is partially untrue. There has only ever been one Darkling, the Darkling--and he’s it. He’s the Black Heretic. So at that point she no longer trusts him. This is supposed to be a big twist lol.
But it really wasn’t. Because the name “Darkling” implies darkness and villainy, you know? As does a man who dresses in all black and summons shadows. And I think the showrunners know this. So it seems they’re going to call him General Kirigan at first instead, so that when Alina finds out that he’s the one who created the Shadow Fold, it’ll be a better twist. We don’t expect a “General Kirigan” to be a bad guy but we do expect it of “the Darkling.” As for Aleksander Morozova, it’s his true name, the name he was given at birth. But he doesn’t share it with anyone. His identity put him in danger in his youth and people attempted to murder him multiple times when he was just a boy because he was a living amplifier and his bones could be used to strengthen powers for magic-users. He and his mother lived with aliases his whole life and so over time, at her instruction, he just never used his real name with anyone. Ever. So it’s a hugely significant moment when he shares it with Alina. But that doesn’t happen until book 3, and if we get a season 3, I’m guessing it’ll happen then. I probably shouldn’t even use his name in tags or edits but 1. I love it so much and 2. it was spoiled for me this same way, through edits and tags, and I found I didn’t mind, so I’ve just kept doing it because I want an Aleksander tag on my blog haha.
If you’re worried about spoiling others, I would just use the Darkling in your tags. Using the Darkling can’t really be called a spoiler at this point because cast members including Ben himself have referred to the character that way and he signed a tweet “your Darkling” like RIGHT after he was cast lol so EVERYONE knows it’s him. Oh, and if you’re interested I gifed Ben talking about this here.

The Skywalker Legacy documentary confirms what I was already fairly certain was true.
I don't need to go in-depth for you Bendemption fans. I know you picked up on all the little things after the death of Kylo Ren.
But I just want to go over this a bit because, while I maintain that Kylo Ren didn't deserve redemption, if it HAD to be done, this was absolutely the best (only) way it could have happened, and I really respect Adam's performance and all JJ's attention to detail.
The metaphorical (and literal?) death of Kylo Ren and rebirth of Ben Solo don't need to be explained. But the inclusion of which gives us such a tangible, real, tactile setup for his redemption. It doesn't happen here. This is just the catalyst that lets it happen.
Harrison Ford's uncredited cameo is so beautiful. It makes this scene possible. I think it's meant to be intentionally vague, but I personally feel that Leia sent him through the Force. Memory, Force Ghost, regular ghost, guilt vision, whatever - Leia made sure her son saw it.
And from then on, with the rebirth of Ben, we get to see the man he could have been. Brave. Strong. Feeling. I don't know how they do it, but his entire affect AND appearance change. The way KR holds himself, how his hair falls is entirely different from those of BS. And it's impressive acting and makeup/wardrobe. Ben's hair is... dare I say it? Fluffy. Where we all mocked Kylo for his nasty greasy Snape hair. Something about Adam's face, even when he's fighting, feels more natural, more relaxed.
You know what? In 15 minutes of screen time for BS, I actually like him. Meaning, if he had been a character in movies instead of KR, I would have liked him and rooted for him along with the other heroes. He even looks more youthful. Instead of the 40 year old appearance in TLJ, Ben looks like he's 25 (a little closer to the character's actual age, I think). And I think that's good filmmaking that all those things can be made apparent * just like that.
Anyway. I want to focus on some details. There's probably something to be said about the costume change - from the hard, rigid armor of KR to the, uh, is that a sweater? of BS. When did he have time to do that? How'd he get off Endor? I have other questions about that escape, but that's not the focus of this discussion.
Anyway, I seen all the GIFs where scenes with KR mirror the behaviors his parents (like the Solo Slide). But I think that as Ben, we really see him channel his parents.
This is the most obvious one to me:
Han in TFA at Maz's castle/Ben arriving on Exegol (some kind person already GIFed it for me)
That's very deliberate given that these are both JJ's films.
Now this may not be as intentional as I think, but it's obvious to me. Leia training with her brother /Ben answering the knights' challenge
That casual, wide stance? I dunno. It feels like something he picked up from his mom like he picked up the other thing from his dad.
All this stuff just let you see and feel what was taken away by Snoke and Palpatine. He could have been a good man, strong fighter for the light, a Jedi like his mother before him and her father before her. It gives you that sharp contrast of what you lose when you choose the dark.
Then Ben and Rey both squaring up to fight Palpatine and then he straight up removes Ben from the fight completely. That's important. It makes sure there's no misunderstanding that this is Rey's fight. No one else can fight it for her or take it away from her. Kylo Ren said "that saber belongs to me" but the truth is Rey earned it. But I digress.
TROS builds up how strong Rey is in the Force throughout the movie, showing her ability to transfer life. Something it appears she learned on her own.
So when she falls. And it's made clear that she is dead. (Her body doesn't immediately disappear, however, and I think there's another discussion to be had on why that is!)
And Ben hesitates. You can see him wonder if he can do it.
He puts his hand on Rey and transfers far more than "a bit of life". Already drained by his and Rey's life-forces being used to revive Palpatine, it takes everything that is left in him. But he is also pulling Rey back from somewhere she hadn't yet pulled anyone with her own technique. Is Ben more powerful in the Force than she? (I don't think so, but I think in another life he could have been) I think Ben only knows all or nothing. It's part of how he got here in the first place. Perhaps he could have brought Rey back from the other side without using all his strength. Perhaps not. We'll never know.
Now I do not approve of the kiss. I don't even know how to begin discussing my feelings on it. But maybe it was necessary to include it just to pacify the Reylos (as if the redemption arc wasn't enough).
But the smile. The smile is so important. We've not once seen Kylo Ren happy anywhere in the series. I don't think anything he could ever achieve would have made him happy. But Ben, maybe even aware that he is about to meet his end, is so happy that she is alive, that he succeeded in saving her, that she defeated Palpatine, (that she is in his arms?) and he finally smiles and again we see the man that should have been. It's bittersweet. As relieved as I am to see Kylo Ren perish (because, like Darth Vader, after taking so many many lives, saving only one is not enough to live a free life) I am saddened to see Ben Solo die. There's probably a conversation to be had on how anyone can be tempted by evil. I dunno. I'm not a philosopher or anything.
Anyway. My sister, who is not really a Star Wars fan but who often understands storytelling far better than I, informed me that Leia was essentially possessing her son for the duration of the redemption arc. That's why her body doesn't disappear until Ben dies. That's why he fights like her, understands Rey's techniques better, can heal like that... I don't know if she's right, my sister. I don't think it's all Leia cuz I'll be damned if she kisses Rey on the mouth.
And then my bf informed me that Ben became a part of Rey when he disappeared into the Force. That's why his ghost didn't appear later. I don't know how I feel about that. I def don't know how Finn and Poe are going to feel when Rey tells them both this. I can't imagine wanting to smooch your gf after you find out that Hitler's wannabe poser grandson is possessing her. I mean.
Okay I've been writing so long I've lost what little coherency I started with. I'm so sorry.
But I just wanted to share my thoughts on all this with you guys. My main point is that if the redemption of Ben Solo had to be included in the film, I genuinely believe that it could not have been done better - from a storytelling standpoint AND with regards to the performance itself! - than they did for TROS. My hat is off to JJ and Adam, really.
(oh and his insistence on doing all his own stunts? Adorable.)
(I'm cool for discussion on the topic, but I have neither the time nor the energy to fight any Reylos about this and anyone trying to start drama gets the ol' Instablork.)

Jona’s 5 Worst Dramas of 2019
A couple words about this list. I’m making this for fun. If a drama you love ended up on this list, it doesn’t mean that I hate you or I think you’re stupid or have terrible taste. But these are dramas that inspired strong negative reactions in me for one reason or another, whether that be disappointment, rage or disgust.
I’ve only included dramas that finished airing in 2019 in my selection process. If you have some dramas that hated, feel free to share them in the replies or send me an ask. It’s fun to complain about things for some reason.
Also, I have included major SPOILERS in a couple of these. So read at your own peril.
Dishonorable Mention: Melting Me Softly
I sincerely tried to limit myself to only dramas that I--for whatever misguided reasons--finished in their entirety for this list. Mainly because I don’t think it’s fair to brand something as the “worst” of anything without actually giving the thing a fair shake. That’s the only reason Melting Me Softly isn’t higher on this list. But I felt that it wasn’t right to leave it off entirely, if for no other reason then out of respect for the fallen Ji Chang Wook stans out there who lost their lives trying to make it through this trash fire. Somebody needs to stand up for those brave soldiers, out their gifing trash dramas while people like me are safe and sound on our couches, watching the tag like it’s a train wreck.
I made it through only two episodes of this drama, and despite my goodwill toward the majority of the cast, they were two of the most bafflingly bad hours of television that I forced myself to sit through this year. From what I could tell while side-eyeing the drama on tumblr and twitter it didn’t improve much over the course of the run. There were a couple steamy kisses that I enjoyed in clip form, but I don’t think it would have been worth the brain cells lost to sit through any more than that.
Bottom Line: Painfully unfunny, overwhelmingly expositional with no character development, confusing pacing and sloppy editing. Two episodes was two too many.
5. When the Devil Calls Your Name
It pains me to put this on the list because it was just last year that a Jung Kyung Ho, Park Sung Woong collaboration (Life on Mars) ended up in my top 5. And giving credit where it’s due, the two male leads seem to have a great deal of fun working together and I believe that all the actors gave this drama everything they could and sincerely tried to make it work. That’s one of the things I like about Jung Kyung Ho, he picks unique, risky projects that either pay off in a big way or fall flat on their faces (like the amateurishly written and edited Missing 9) Unfortunately, this script just too messy and too bizarre to work. Ha Rip as has a deeply frustrating character arc. He’s such a self-centered jerk for the vast majority of the drama, which is fine for a Faust type story if it’s written with conviction, but every time you think he’s started to turn a corner or grown as a person he reverts back to his old ways. The writing and tone are whiplash inducing. Plus the vague “soul mates” relationship between Ha Rip and Kim Yi Kyung seemed to want to have it both ways, flipping between implied romantic potential and a father/daughter dynamic, which made me quite uncomfortable.
Bottom Line: This drama’s bizarre mythology and world building barely makes any sense at all, but at least they’re easier to follow than the character development. Attempted something unique, but couldn’t pull it off. The OST is super dope though.
4. Love in Sadness
When I watched the first teasers I got the distinct impression that this wasn’t going to be a good drama, or at best it was going to be a guilty pleasure, but at the time when I started it I was hungry for a melo and there wasn’t much airing to hold my attention so I started it on impulse. I think in this case I got what I deserved for continuing to watch something I didn’t think was very good.
The first few episodes were actually pretty gripping and intriguingly dark, but that petered of quickly and the drama became and infuriating wheel spinning exercise with barely any perceptible plot development from episode to episode. The protagonists in this are all so stupid that in the final few episodes the female lead gets kidnapped not once, but multiple times because she keeps meeting her unstable husband alone. Plus nobody in this drama seems to know how to call the police when a madman is waving around a gun. It probably wouldn’t have made me so very mad except that in the last few episodes the writer became unaccountably preoccupied with how sad the psychotic, wife-beating husband’s family life was and how lonely and pathetic his life was when he wasn’t allowed to stalk, assault, and psychologically terrorize his wife. Seriously, in the last leg of the drama the villain is the only character who gets any character development at all. The drama pulls out all the stops to try to make use feel sorry for him. It’s disgusting.
Bottom Line: When a drama about a woman trying to escape domestic violence becomes completely preoccupied with painting the abuser as tragically misunderstood, you’ve got some serious problems.
3. The Lies Within
If it wasn't for the last two episodes this drama would not be on this list, but that isn't because it was in any way an exceptional drama, or that it otherwise would have ended up on my best list. Without the last two episodes The Lies Within is a merely adequate thriller, somewhat heightened by the brutal nature of the premise. I picked this show up largely to fill the void that was left by WATCHER and it was more or less successful, plus it helped that I liked the cast. However even at the beginning this drama I felt like it had some pretty glaring tone problems. There were parts of the drama that were standard OCN dark and gritty thriller, and there were other parts that felt like a campy police sitcom. The humor, when it does crop up in this drama always feels super out of place. But then that last big twist happened and man...I can't remember the last time a drama made me that angry or cratered quite so hard with a twist.
[And this is where I spoil the HELL out of this drama...]
Before this drama decided to go all M. Night Shyamalan in it’s last two episodes, there seemed to be at least one, if not two really reasonable candidates for the kidnapper. Actually all the ground work they’d done up to that point would seem to have pointed to Young Min and if he had turned out to be the perpetrator, I would have completely bought it. Instead they decided to blow everyone’s mind by making the kidnapped husband complicit in his own kidnapping and dismemberment. Which might seem like a shocking twist until you think about it for even half a second.
What it winds up doing on a narrative level it makes everything the characters have done to investigate this series of crimes up to this point feel pointless, resulting in a huge anticlimax. It makes the ambiguous figure of Seo Hui’s husband not only hopelessly stupid, but also cruel and unsympathetic. Because he thought somehow simply sharing the information with her would put her in more danger than threatening and psychologically terrorizing her into investigating the very people he was theoretically trying to protect her from. The explanation that he was already terminally ill doesn’t to anything to mitigate the stupidity of his plan for me. Seriously, you couldn’t think of any solution aside from cutting bits off yourself and sending them to your wife in the mail? I could rant about this ending at length, but I’m going to try to stop here.
Bottom Line: As far as I’m concerned, if you choose to sacrifice the emotional and narrative coherence of your story for a cheap and dirty twist to surprise the audience, you deserve every ranty review you get.
2. Love Affairs in the Afternoon
I’m really not sure what possessed me to watch this drama to begin with. That I continued to watch it is on me. The fact that I watched it despite hating the shallow characters, the thin story and the abortive message at the core of the drama is simply a lapse of judgement for which I shouldn’t be forgiven. Why did I do it despite not having a single nice thing to say about this show? Well, there are two reasons. I was curious to see if they would do anything compelling with one or two of the characters, (specifically the serial adulteress housewife an the broody artist) and I was surreptitiously watching this drama at work and it was really easy to follow the plot while only actually keeping my eyes on the screen about half the time. I watched the last episode before the subs were available and had no trouble understanding what was going. Which could be a sign that my Korean is improving, but is more likely a sign that the writing was so predictable and simplistic that you could follow it if you didn’t speak the language at all.
[Spoilers beyond this point.]
It’s my understanding that in the Jdrama that this is based on all of the characters basically wreck their lives and end up miserable, pointing toward the emptiness of the lives of these people who try to find fulfillment through extra-marital affairs. If that’s how this drama had ended, I still wouldn’t have enjoyed the execution but I could have respected the intent. But in this watered down Kdrama-fied version all the couples’ issues are resolved in the whitewash of a last episode time skip that makes the suffering and bullshit that led up to it feel completely pointless.
Bottom Line: Maybe this level of trashy, uninspired tripe would be somewhat justified if the chemistry between the leads had been better, but somehow they even managed to screw that up. The leads are just bad, vacuous people, a fact which is rendered all the more unforgivable by them being utterly bland. Everybody needed to divorce, nobody deserved to end up happy. Please be wiser than me and avoid this one.
1. Memories of the Alhambra
Initially, I was on the fence about even producing a “Worst List” this year, because in the past few years I’ve tried to be better about dropping dramas the moment they start to disappoint me, rather than hanging on to them and winding up burning myself out. I wasn’t sure if I’d have enough material to write this list, or at least not enough material to make it worth reading. Then I remembered that Memories of the Alhambra finished airing in January of this year (2019 was impossibly long, wasn’t it?) and I thought, “Aha, I can make this work.” I knew at once this drama was going to be the shitty tinfoil star atop my Christmas tree of suck.
I’ve already written a full review of this drama, where I got about as mean as I felt I could reasonably be. You can go read that if you like, I’m not going to retread all my many complaints here. What I will say is that Memories of the Alhambra took my mixed-to-favorable opinion of the writer, Song Jae Jung, and turned it to a negative one. She’s someone who clearly has a lot of interesting high concept ideas, but the execution is just not there. You can hook an audience with a concept, but you have to keep them with craft and structure.
Maybe the industry can be blamed for that. Maybe she just has a hard time ending her stories, or maybe writing on a deadline doesn’t agree with her. Whatever the reason, I can no longer trust her to deliver a satisfying story. And that’s deeply saddening to me, because Queen In Hyun’s Man is in my top 10 favorite dramas.
To be front-to-back terrible is one thing. The joke’s at least half on me for bothering. But to have potential, to have an interesting hook, a budget, a cast, but then to be either unwilling or unable to live up to that potential feels like a con. That’s how I felt about his drama, like I had been willfully deceived by special effects and flashy editing, all orchestrated to disguise a narratively bankrupt, unsatisfying drama.
Bottom Line: Is Memories of the Alhambra objectively the worst drama on this list? No, it’s not. Is it the most disappointing? Absolutely, it is. And that’s the more heinous crime, in my opinion. And that’s why it’s my worst drama of 2019.

I would absolutely love to work on those GIFs for you. Please send me all the ideas you have. I re-watched the series a couple of months ago and have some things in mind, but I think I need to refresh again. So yes, your ideas on the transgenics and anything else. Helps me get started on it. Thanks for the reblog and I will try and get the Max and Logan one out soon. You can reply to this with your ideas!
Oh my gosh. Thank you so much! And sorry in advance if I go overboard with this. Hahaha. And if I do, feel free to ignore me and only do the ones of these you want:)
I’ve actually done a few screenshot Dark Angel things that aren’t the greatest. So if you wanted to remake some of those as gifs, I wouldn’t mind at all. https://oveliagirlhaditright.tumblr.com/post/188483190012/i-know-brainiac-is-arguably-the-most-hated, https://oveliagirlhaditright.tumblr.com/post/186108463327/i-saw-alec-saying-the-move-your-furniture-thing.
And then some other ideas I had… uhh. It’d be cute–if you wanted to, I mean–if you gifed all the times Max and Logan held hands, or almost kissed… Or to do a comparison gifset between when Max says in the finale season of season one (And Jesus Brought a Casserole) “I’d kiss you, but I have to keep my head in the game”, with her in season two saying to Logan (Proof of Purchase): “Thanks, Logan. I’d hug you, but-”
Max kind of posing with the pool stick and smiling after Logan says he’s at Crash to see her in Fugheddaboutit is really cute. And so is the scene in Harbor Lights when they’re just smiling at each other when Max is in the hospital bed. Or when Max is telling Logan, in Gill Girl, how she wants this story to have a happy ending… and you can just tell he knows–without her saying it–that she wants the merepeople to have a happy ending, since they can’t right now. And before that in Gill Girl, when Logan is calling Max… and then hears her ringtone in his apartment, and then sees her coming in with a mermaid slung over her shoulder as she says “I’ll hit you back later!” That was funny.
Logan’s speech about how it never mattered to him what Max was in Love Among the Runes is good, as is the whole scene when he’s sticking up for the transgenics that they do have souls, in Dawg Day Afternoon. And if you wanted to do a “Logan character development” post you could, in comparing Haven (”How can I even think of having a good time, when the man who orchestrated the shootings was a cop… and he not only got away with it, but got promoted for it, too?!”) with Proof of Purchase (”Well, you can only fight corruption for son long before you have to kick back and relax.”)
You could also do Max character development ones if you wanted! Like, in the Pilot when she’s telling Logan that people are looking to kill her, put her in a cage, or turn her into a science experiment or all three… and that she’s gotten by through keeping her head down and wants to keep it that way, and not help people… with the season two finale (Freak Nation), where she’s saying “Where will you go? I can’t force anyone to stay. But I’m tired of running, hiding, and being afraid. Aren’t you tired of running? Of being in being in darkness? Don’t you want to feel the sun on your face? It’s time to make a stand, right here and right now. They created us, and it’s time that they owned up to that instead of trying to sweep us away like garbage” and that sort of thing. Or how in the Pilot (even though she’s partially lying here) when she tells Logan that she doesn’t blame herself at all for what happened to him, and that it’s on him “one-hundred percent”. But then in Meow she and Original Cindy have this conversation: Cindy: The truth is, you love Logan. Max: We’re not even like that, and the fact is we both would have been better off if we’d never even meet. Cindy: Please. Max: He has to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair because of me. Cindy: I didn’t see you on TV, pulling no trigger. Max: Yeah, but I could’ve protected him and I didn’t and that’s on me “one-hundred percent”.
I also love how Max and Logan give each other a piece that the other was missing: Logan suggesting that Max choose a birthday (C.R.E.A.M), and then her giving him back his mother’s locket in Art Attack. Or also how I think it was in Max going to the wedding with Logan in Art Attack, that she finally chose a last name for herself “Guevara”, and then began using it from then on out.
I once did a screenshot post (that I’ve since deleted), of Charlie telling Case the “storybook” version of Tinga’s life (this happens in Hit A Sista Back) that she’d told Charlie and Case (that neither of them had any idea was real at first), paired with Max incredulously saying to Bling about Logan in 411 on the DL, “I’ll go over and read him a bedtime story.” And then after that, I put Charlie telling Max and Logan in Hit A Sista Back, how he didn’t regret any of the time that he had with Tinga… and he’s essentially telling Max and Logan to get together there… and you can kind of tell by the way they’re looking at each other, that maybe they want this “bedtime story” for themselves, too. And if you wanted to remake this, you totally could:)
I also did another post in the past, that you could remake… Where Max says to Logan in C.R.E.A.M, that she’s surprised a high-minded, leftist, idealist like him would be okay with her greasing the enemies… and then paired it with her saying (in Prodigy) that she isn’t as high-minded as Logan is, with the idea that life is good and murder is bad, so she should have just let Lydecker go for that reason.
The scene where Original Cindy is talking to Max about Diamond at the end of Shorties in Love is really good overall, and is speaking of both the Max/Logan and Original Cindy/Diamond relationships, that could be cool to see gifed:)
You could also do a Max and Original Cindy comparison, where Max has to touch Logan’s hand through glass in Proof of Purchase and Original Cindy has to do that with Diamond in Shorties in Love.
Speaking of, any Original Cindy content–like with her and Max–would be awesome. I personally love the scene where they’re dunking the guy in the hot tub in Art Attack, being such a team, to get information out of him.
Gifs of Max being smart and a badass would also be great.
And just anything with Tinga, Brin, Syl, Jace, Jondy, and Mia would make me so happy.
You could even do a gifset that explains where the name of the show comes from: “Forever eyes, dark. Somebody’s angel” (the poem Logan made for Max in Shorties in Love) and Art Attack. Guy that Max Saves from Jumping Off a Building: “You’re the messenger, right?” Max: “Yeah?” Guy: “Well, I’ve never been much of a believer before… but you personally coming here to straighten me out like this. Thank you”. Max, smiling: “I’ll see about getting you that package back” (he thought she was an angel).
So these are just some of the crazy Dark Angel ideas I have. Feel free to use any or none of them. And thank you so much again:) And if you need me to try and explain any of this better, I can.
Edit: You could also gif what I believe is the closest we ever got to Max and Logan saying they were together in this series (aside from the times they told each other “I love you”, I mean. Or at least started to say it). Max saying angrily in “Boo” after Rafer insinuated Logan was her ex: “He’s not my ex! …I mean, we’re not like that.” And then Mia asking Logan in “Fugheddaboutit”: “You’re Max’s boyfriend, right?” And him saying, “Something like that.” You could also maybe have fun gifing all the times they said the ridiculous “we’re not like that” line, and then prove how untrue that was. LOL.
Edit 2: I also loved the scenes we got that showed how much Max and Logan knew each other, and that they got to know each other even moreso in scenes we didn’t see. Like when Max is sad in one episode (though I don’t remember which one it is), that he sold a painting his grandmother had given him, I think, to try and find a cure for the Virus (and we hadn’t known that painting was from his grandmother before this). Or when in Gill Girl, Max knows so much about people in Logan’s family–like Bitsy–and is talking about them with him, even though the audience had never heard of them before. Or in Some Assembly Required, when Logan knew how much Zack being alive would mean to Max and is gently and somewhat excitedly telling her, “You’re brother’s alive, Max.” …And really, just how kind Logan was to Zack actually says a lot about his love for Max, since Zack was always cruel to him (and I say this as a Zack Stan).
Edit 3: You could also do a Space Needle journey: Max on the Space Needle in the Pilot, Max asking Logan about going on the Space Needle in Heat, but him refusing since he’s scared of heights… Them almost going together at the end of Rising, but not for some reason… And then them finally getting there on Jesus Brought a Casserole together, and then Logan alone on the Space Needle at the end of And Jesus Brought a Casserole–echoing what Max said in the Pilot. Also, speaking of Max and Logan being on top of buildings: Max being on top of Logan’s penthouse in the Pilot, and Logan being on top of it in She Ain’t Heavy (as it seems he finally got over his fear of heights).
Edit 4: Gifs of Max interacting with kids could also be cool, since she loved them.
#sorry that a lot of these are max and Logan. I don't even know if you like them#and if you don't you don't have to do these or go overboard with them#but they actually don't get the love they deserve from the fandom even though they were the canon pairing#and main characters#so that's why most of the stuff here is about them:)

1, 4 and 8 with Keaton or Diarmiud? (sorry if i spelt his name wrong)
Why not both?
1. how did you discover your f/o’s content?
I’d learned of Fire Emblem Fates specifically from I believe a post that had gifed the teaser for it, the one with Azura dancing in the black outfit. I wasn’t watching the Directs a lot at the time, but I was interested in what I saw there.
If we’re being technical, I’ve known about the Fate series since the mid-2000′s. But it was only the original Fate/Stay Night anime since I don’t believe Fate/Zero existed yet. It was always in the back of my mind until a mutual on tumblr got into the franchise, then I put all the available anime on Netflix into my watch queue and started with Zero.
4. who was your first favorite character when you initially got into your f/o’s source content? was it your f/o from the very beginning?
Anyone who knows about me and FE Fates can tell you I literally picked Conquest first because of one shot in the early trailers where Camilla walks forward with her arms outstretched. Like, I was so gay for her after that fact. Still am actually, but sadly she’s not romanceable if you’re fem!Corrin so I had to marry someone else. So Camilla was my first favorite in Fates, and she was an F/O.
Fate/Zero is a bit tricky. If I have to guess, I’d say my first faves were Waver and Iskander. I had worried that I’d fall for Diarmuid, after I realized he wasn’t the Cu I’d heard so much about, but it took about two weeks before I got hit with love for him. Waver was a platonic F/O, but that’s about it.
8. are there any scenes/chapters/moments your f/o is in that you skip when you revisit their source content?
I guess you could say that I skip playing Birthright because that’s the route where Keaton dies, but otherwise I can’t think of a specific scene that I skip. The only other stuff is certain support conversations, and those are optional.
I haven’t rewatched Fate/Zero either, though I plan on doing it since I kinda rushed through it the first time, so there aren’t any scenes from there that I skip either. Though I’d probably skip all of Gilgamesh’s scenes if I could, I’m not exactly a fan of him.

Appmon quick FINAL thoughts
Wow! What a 7 months that was...I know I could have finished this series waayy sooner (especially if my blog wouldn’t have taken a break in July-August), but I had a life and future to worry about outside this tumblr bubble and in the end I’m glad I was able to find time to watch this series whenever I wanted to relax. Overall I really thought Appmon was good! I never really found a problem wit the episode pacing for important plot points, and I didn’t really find the beginning to be that boring really. At least it was better than Xros Wars’s first arc in my opinion. I can understand why maybe some people didn’t get into this because of maybe the humor it presented, or how much “filler” plot it had in certain episodes. I didn’t really see any episode to be filler (well maybe except the clip show in episode 26) because each episode at least addressed the main plot and how they could get one step closer to Leviathan. The series definitely wasn’t perfect, and I wished they would have used more of Appmon they gained throughout the series. At least with Xros Wars, you saw multiple appearances from many of Taiki’s Digimon that he had in his Xros Loader. At the same time, it really took me a while to understand how evolution worked and why the super grade needed to have a link most of the time. I just went with the flow and enjoyed what was shown to me on the screen lol.
I also have a few picky questions that really isn’t that significant but left me wondering...was Dantemon ever freed from being stone? Poor fella. Did L-Corp really just dissolve like that? No repercussions from its employees like Yuujin’s “mom”. And speaking of Yuujin...was that final scene confirm him to be alive again? If so, then I don’t get it lol...but I think it seemed to be like a dream or a fantasy from Haru? And Knight Unryuji man...I was a bit disappointed they didn’t bring him back for the final arc besides that short cameo in the end. His character had so much potential from what I was saw in him
Anyway with my minor complaints being out of the way, I pretty much love everything what Appmon was about. The theme of artificial intelligence taking over our world is interesting itself, and by using modern smartphone applications to this story presents a good example of how we today really so much on our phone and the internet to do everyday tasks and even in relaxing outside school or work. Honestly you don’t even have to be a Digimon fan to get into this series, because Appmon can stand alone on its own for being that unique. Sure it has some Digimon references (like the buddy partnership), but if you compare this to previous installments from the franchise it really gives off a different vibe from the characters and humor alone. Any sci-fi enthusiast would love a concept like this, and could easily get into this series.
I pretty much loved everyone from the main cast! Unlike other Digimon series where it actually took me a while to get in to the characters, I was intrigued with each one from the start (excluding Yuujin since I thought he was a side character in the first half of the series). From Haru’s adorkableness to help others (probably the most kind-hearted goggle protag out there), Eri’s badassery with a spice of elderly respect, and Astra’s eccentric attitude filming himself doing funny things while trying to follow in his family’s footsteps. BUT REI OH MY GAWD, he’s probably my favorite character! Episode 42 has to be my favorite episode from the series hands down. From being this punk hacker kid that drinks jelly juice we get to see a caring brother who wants nothing but to be cook good food for him...that drinks jelly juice too lol. And of course the best character of them all in everyone’s book the NOOOOOOOOOOOO guy. Probably one of the funniest gags I’ve seen in a series in quite a while. Pokémon typically does this stuff, but I’m happy to see Toei trying to format that with this goofy character. Too bad we never knew his name :(
For the Appmon, everyone was great! At times I did find Dokamon a bit annoying, but in a funny way xD He always made me laugh trying to get Eri’s attention. Offmon has to be my hands down favorite...I mean who doesn’t like Offmon?! JUST LOOK AT IT :3 Too damn adorable for this show.
I also really do wanna try and play the 3DS game too...then I realized it was only realized in Japan and I would probably need a 3DS emulator to get like an English translation -_- Oh well...maybe one day. But by looking at the cover art from the game, all I recognize is Haru, Gatchmon, and Offmon and I’m like WHO ARE YOU ALL YOU PEOPLE???? Probably the game’s AU xD
Anyway I don’t want to ramble too much about this and make this post long as it already is, but man what series that was...a highlight of 2018 for sure! And even though I am done with this series, that doesn’t mean that I can’t bring it up on my blog from time to time 👀I CAN FINALLY REBLOG STUFF FROM THE TAG NOW YESSSS (and I already saw similar posts of mine that were already GIFed and I wasn’t aware of it lol...was expected). To my new followers that I gained from this series (or old ones that liked Appmon too), please feel free to ask me questions or send me messages if you’d like to chat about it since I won’t be talking about it that much anymore moving forward after today. I don’t want to mention names, but I’m sure some of you are aware of a certain user that isn’t too fond of Appmon based on the reblogs on some of my posts. To each their own opinions, but please if you want to be critical and do nothing but hate, bash, and pull up ignorant arguments, don’t even bother getting a serious conversation with me lol....just putting it out there :^) I don’t hate anyone here, but I will ignore the ignorance, and hey you should too!
I know that a few Digimon Elitists and certain other folks feel a bit indifferent with Appmon (and some just judging a book by its cover), but you shouldn’t let that get to what you enjoy! This same goes for the Pokémon fandom as well, so I know the feeling. I personally will be an ambassador for Appmon to help spread to others (especially Digimon fans who don’t even know of this yet) when I get the chance to talk about it. I think I’ll start with my friend from college who watched Adventure to Frontier only...let’s see how he likes it xD
Again, I want to thank the Appmon fandom for all their kind words especially to @latiwings who always chats with me after each episode. It’s amazing how you can make friends by watching something! There are countless others too I want to mention, but it could be a long list lol...YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE <3 I am also grateful to have some of my posts being reblogged by @digi-egg who (if some of you didn’t know) is probably the biggest Digimon blog on the tumblr fandom. Basically the equivalent to @shelgon in the Pokémon tumblr side of things. Finally I want to thank Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, for teaching me how to be a protagonist in my own life. I needed something like this because of the struggles I had to overcome this year. Haru and Gatchmon, thank you for my spiritual buddies! We all need a Yuujin in our lives.
#P J's thoughts#Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters#Appmon#what a ride#and with that I bid this series a farewell <3 On to the next series whenever that is!

First off, thanks for sharing your headcanons, I love them! I'm really hoping theres gonna be ride references too, from the clips we're getting the puns at least. I'm gonna be watching the backgrounds for any sneaky references to the Society but I bet you're right, its going to be in there somewhere. I’m the same with the Native issue, I’m a bit worried how they’ll deal with it but hope they might have a bit of awareness and address how messed up some of the stereotypes the ride had were- cont
Response under the cut! (following asks copied there too for reference)
First of all before I respond to anything, you do not have to apologise. This is quite literally my dream way to spend my time- talking to someone about a thing I like at length. The fact that you checked all the posts I made and took time to respond to them with your thoughts means the world to me.
2- I’m also really hoping we get a lot for McGregor (wtf is with that alternate spelling Disney?? But I do want the other two to call him Mac, I’d love that), learning to relax and find his place. I LOVE that Lily gets to do physical comedy, you’re right female characters often only get to be funny so long as that means they can still be sexy while doing it. Lily looks like she just goes “nope” to that and dives headfirst into a bit of slapstick and I love her already- cont
3- I really like Dwayne, hes got a warmth to him that comes across in Frank, even if hes trying not to show it to the siblings at first. I really want proper sibling moments too and I love that little one we got in the clip. Like, “you don’t get to laugh at my sister, now excuse me while I go give her a hand while laughing at her”. Like thats a great example of having siblings, I’ll help you out, but I’m totally going to mock you while doing it, but no one else can. BTS have me hopeful too- cont
4- I love your idea for the coming out scene. I think they’d be walking a very fine line in order to get it right, but if they did it could be wonderful. I really really hope we get that scene, no skirting around it or making vague illusions, I want McGregor to say “I’m gay” outright. Like, we’ll all know he is even if they don’t let him say it but for once I want Disney to live up to what they promised and let an actual main character be actually gay.- cont
5- I love the connection with the lights for our trio in the posters, I didn't put that together. I really want them to be a proper Trio, I’m really hoping this is a success so we can get sequels. Even if they’re terrible I still want them to see these three together. FRANK IS HUGGING MCGREGOR, I’VE GOT A GOOD FEELING ABOUT THIS ALREADY. I don’t really have many thoughts on our three villains, other than I'm getting evil musketeer, smug plantation owner & WWII in that order- cont
6- I LOVE THAT GIF SET OF THE PUNS SO MUCH!! McGregor’s little smile and his laugh, hes loving it, Frank is loving getting a reaction, Lily is going to eventually find it funny how unfunny they are. I can’t get over how much I love McGregor’s little face in this, I can’t want for this scene, I’m gonna join you in imploding. Also, in your protective brother gifset, is he wearing a little tartan/ plaid suit? Love it. And on that note, I adore Lily’s costumes- practical and realistic but flattering
7- ok so thats me taken up far too much of your ask box, I haven't even property looked at the press tour things yet, but I do have one more thing, I have a theory about how Jack ends up in the middle of Emily and Dwayne's kiss if you'd like to hear it. Thanks for kickstarting this fandom and the wonderful gif sets, we're so close now! - Skip
So on to my very long response!
I've watched SO much about the ride just so I'm prepared to catch any reference. They just released Behind the Attraction on Disney+ and ep 1 is about the Jungle Cruise ride (Dwayne Johnson is in it too!). He talks about how much he loved the ride as a kid and used to imagine himself as a skipper which is SO cute and I'm so happy his dreams came true (and I find it very relatable as someone who dreams about being a raptor handler at Universal).
I'm genuinely a lil mad that the spelling changed. Because if you google it really everyone thought it was McGregor, they must've at some point released something on the movie for the press with that spelling and then changed their mind. Now everyone has it wrong because I suspect these featurettes are also gonna be the DVD/Bluray extras so I'm confident this is the final spelling. However I will continue to live in denial until I see the other spelling ON SCREEN.
"I really like Dwayne, hes got a warmth to him that comes across in Frank, even if hes trying not to show it to the siblings at first." Yes! I love that every character is a trope that I ADORE. Frank is the cynic who thinks everyone just wants to cheat you anyway and miracles don't exist who eventually cracks and warms up to people and shows that there is a soft, warm person in there after all. Lily is wildly optimistic and aggressively individualistic, not trying to fit in or caring about what anyone thinks and will probably have a moment of losing that optimism and doubting herself after all. And McGregor is the person who appears to think he's better than everyone, who's pampered and refuses to sacrifice any of the luxuries he's used to until he reveals he's gay and you realise most of it was just a show to cover up how hurt he really is. Three PEAK character tropes we're working with here and COMBINED with a reluctant-allies to lovers and a siblings trope.
"Like, “you don’t get to laugh at my sister, now excuse me while I go give her a hand while laughing at her”. Like thats a great example of having siblings, I’ll help you out, but I’m totally going to mock you while doing it, but no one else can" I have a gifset for that queued already, I love that you also focused on that rightaway bc I really went "Siblings! peak sibling energy!!" and gifed it immediately.
Based on the reports (that I cannot stress enough I have no idea how accurate they are) he doesn't say "gay" but it's unambiguous what he's talking about. Let's hope that's true! I'm imaginging some sort of "relationships with men" or "no interest in women but rather men" or sth like that. I hadn't really considered that it might be ambiguous to someone who doesn't know he's supposed to be gay so that's a new fear unlocked lmao
I'm going to be so sad if we don't get sequels cause so many franchises with several movies don't have a core group of actors that are just friends and get along as well naturally as these three. Or if we get more movies and Jack isn't in them or sth like that. Like any future where these three aren't the leading trio in more movies is a nightmare.
"I'm getting evil musketeer, smug plantation owner & WWII in that order" this sent me I swear. I'm most interested in Edgar Ramirez bc I'm curious abt the whole "conquistador alive "today"" thing. also what's up with the snakes lmao.
McGregor laughing at Frank's puns alone could sustain me another year if I had to wait that long for the movie. Luckily I don't have to. It is so wholesome tho, like the fact that they're gonna get along and also get closer and McGregor won't end up sidelined for being a bitch until the last minute or sth is so wonderful.
And yes! It's tartan! We've seen p little of the beginning of the movie in London and since that's gonna be focused on just Lily and McGregor I'm so excited bc we got so little content so there's gonna be SO much in the movie to look forward to that I can barely even piece together!!! (All we know is lily will steal the arrowhead before falling out of the window which mcgregor sees and he immediately follows her so I assume he knew to come there and that there's a scene where she asks him in one of their bedrooms about wanting to go on an adventure. So I'm assuming the bedroom scene comes first and she'll tell him about the arrowhead, he'll refuse to help her but decide to come last minute because he's worried about her (and the worry is immediately proven right as she falls out of a window lol). But we know so little that it's a really loose theory.
And yes!! Lily's costumes are so good. Frank calls her Pants so they will absolutely address that she's dressed very unusual for a woman of her status in 1916/17 and I hope they explore that a little and address where she even gets her clothes and everything. I mean Emily Blunt looks good in everything but the costume department really made something gorgeous with this. She is, for the time the movie is set in, very gender nonconforming which I love in a female lead. And Emily described Lily's fighting style as very Indiana Jones and brutal without much tactic or thinking and just brute force and I really would die for this characterisation. Like when I compare this to similar female leads like in The Mummy for example they're usually highly feminine, aggressive only in their attittude and witty banter but always emphasised to be beautiful and wearing dresses and lots of (usually historically inaccurate) makeup and they get like one scene where they smack the bad guy with sth heavy or sth so noone can say they're a damsel in distress even though they are. But Lily feels very much like a coherent person to me. She's very unusual for a woman at her time, her desire for adventure is in line with how she fights and dresses but she doesn't seem to have the "uwu I'm not like other girls" thing going on, she's just exactly who she is and wants to be.
and of COURSE I wanna hear your theory are you kidding! Cause I still haven't figured it out at all lmao. I just settled on "she probably meant he was off screen but right next to them while they filmed it" or sth bc I couldn't make sense of it otherwise.
also I haven't posted everything new directly here I think, but you probably know where to look for the new stuff. like there's some clips on their instagrams and most stuff is on youtube.
#you are keeping me sane here skip#I am not kidding when I say there's noone who's reasonably interested enough to listen to me talk this much and in depth about it#you are god sent i swear#ask#skip

Hey guys, it's Mitsuki! Here for another theory but no less weary~
This time, I'm gonna talk about the symbolic meaning behind a scene that I am 100% sure had no symbolic meaning at the time of creation. Which is fine, cause it's also one of the most GIFed moments from the series~
The one where Damien takes our body and runs after William. To kill him? Or to talk to him? I dunno why he ran after him. But that's not the point of this theory.
Before this scene, we talk to Damien and Celine in the black space, and he exclaims that he (meaning Mark) has taken everything from us. In that scene, he's definitely talking about him and Celine, due to both of them being dead and all.
But what if it's not just them?
What if Mark took something from us as well?
And by us, I mean US us, not the us that Damien takes over in the end.
Well, obviously Mark can't take our lives like he supposedly did the others. For one thing, we're in a different dimension from the rest of the cast. We could technically leave whenever we want by shutting off the video. He can't do anything to us.
But he did take something from us. From all of us.
He took Darkiplier himself.
That's a weird statement to proclaim, but in order to explain what I mean, let's compare their relationship to how Jacksepticeye works around his evil counterpart, Antisepticeye. Unlike Mark, Jack keeps Anti rather ambiguous. He doesn't establish a character, he doesn't establish lore, he's only really relegated as a cameo character left to make the fans go nuts on Tumblr while his editor gets to have a few more hours of editing without having to upload another video that day (don't say that I'm wrong, Jack, I know shortcuts).
Now look at Mark and Dark. We the fans made Darkiplier the same way we made Antisepticeye, but Mark decided to use him in the same series manner as Jack did, he instead went in the total opposite direction. His first appearance was in a miniseries instead of glimpses off the facecam, where he has a very established character and personality.
Mark later hosted a live stream where he explains Darkiplier as a character and establishes a set personality that he envisions him to have. Most align with what the fans had, but some of it stray away from our interpretation. I think he said that because of all the stuff fans did that made Dark a tragic character instead of a manipulator or something. I'm not sure what exactly he contrasted, I'm not that deep into the fandom.
But this? This whole thing? This whole series? It gave Darkiplier something extremely concrete and unchangeable: a canon backstory. A backstory for a character that we the fans have made first and probably haven't written any specific history about. Not only that, but Dark was given a canon name, a canon explanation for his appearance, and even canon relationships. Since when did the fans make anything of this reach for this character?
This is Mark reclaiming a character for himself. A character made for him that he now fully embraces.
It's fitting that we were the one who ends up being the host body for Darkiplier. We were the one who made him, shaped him into a image that we all wanted.
In this scene, Mark has firmly established Darkiplier as his creation. Mark now has full canon, creative control over him.
And us? The ones who first made him?
Well, we have now been regulated to the ordinary viewer, who can only sit back and watch what our creation will do without our pens and keyboards writing his actions.
He has finally, truly become unpredictable.

Thoughts on tonight's Flash episode?
It was my least favorite of the season so far, but it was still enjoyable to me. I really loved Cisco and Cynthia (!!!), and I thought Breacher was a lot of fun. The only part of that storyline that got a little meh to me was when he started trying to fight Ralph, but at least it gave Cisco the chance to be a hero. Anyway, the opening scene + Jitters + the goodbye scene made the story for me.
Ralph is… I really liked Hartley’s performance, but the fat jokes and body humor were a bit much for me. I thought it was an odd choice to make him someone who would plant evidence, but I liked that it caused Barry some self-reflection about the metahuman prison and whatnot. I also liked their tension and how they remained prickly even at the end of the ep, but I’m annoyed that they want to do for Ralph what they didn’t really want to do for Wally.
I am so happy Iris got to do some investigating and was very naturally presented as a leader in several scenes, I just missed her presence since she was such a big part of the last three episodes. I also would like to see some more WA quality alone time, but we have the rest of the show for it, so I’m not pressed.
Didn’t really like that Joe had no scenes processing the info from Cecile until he bought those cigars, and that scene was silent. So he seemed shocked and almost unhappy about the news, but then surprise he’s super happy. And like I mentioned before, I was not a fan of the body humor this week. A little goes a long way for me when it comes to that, and anything with a fatsuit pisses me off. But yay that Barry knows about Devoe!
So how the heck did the ep for next week get out?
No idea, but it looks like the girl gifing the episode got in trouble because she deactivated.

I’ve read on several blogs, people upset about sexy times (or the lack thereof) between WA. While I’m not exactly sure why there hasn’t been more (tv rating, lack of thought on the part of the writers, it’s a family show, etc.) I don’t think it’s really needed. B+I have a healthy RL based on genuine love+friendship. The couples therapy allowed Iris to vent to Barry without being OTT. Admittedly, if it works out that WA get busy after the girls save the city in 4x05 I won’t be mad! Your thoughts?
At this point, I wish we would get sexytimes so that other people would be happy and not upset about it. But I personally am not missing them, and if I ever want one I read fanfic. I definitely wouldn’t be mad if we got one, haha, but I think something like 3.04, 3.10 or tonight’s Cisco/Cynthia scene is totally possible for either 4.05 or 4.09.
I’ll be the first to admit that if they aligned The Flash to be more like the comics, losing the STAR Labs team in the process, I’d be less likely to watch. I think they’d lose a huge chunk of their audience. Having said that, the writers and producers could have done a much better job utilizing KF a lot better, rather than just sending him away. Like hello why not show him being a hero at school or something? Idk its all extremely weird
Yeah, even outside of STAR Labs, the treatment of Wally since his arrival has been subpar.
I have to be honest with the way the writers & EPs are treating Wally it makes me a bit nervous for the future of Iris & WA, I mean yes they seem to like both now, but what’s to say that they won’t summarily change their minds down the road. I can’t help but think about Laurel from Arrow & how they treated that character. I think I have lost all trust in these writers & EP’s.
You can say that about anything, though. Writers can change their minds at any given moment and write something else, unfortunately. But Wally has never been treated right and neither was Laurel, whereas WA have been handled very carefully. So I don’t think it would be the same situation.
Has Danielle Nicolet been on set since 3.05? Yeah most of this pregnancy will take place off screen. I still don’t understand the purpose of this unless they want to give th the Tornado Twins only difference is they’ll be regular kids w no powers 😕
I thought she might have filmed for the crossover because she flew to Vancouver around that time, but there were no pics of her filming or on set, so there’s no telling. And yes, the poor woman didn’t even get to be there when Joe announced her pregnancy lmao. No, she will not birth the Tornado Twins. AJK said they were doing it because they thought it was the funniest thing that could happen to Joe.
@ “small quibble” anon:
I totally hear your concern, and would like to say that we are definitely joking because I doubt the show will ever go there. But we will address it on our next podcast! Thanks for the feedback, btw.
You don’t think Fe takes over SL in the GNO episode, do you? There she is in front of the computer as usual in the promo pics. I hope she asked the boss lady, Iris, for permission first. Lol
I hope she doesn’t! I think they’ll still have Iris be the one organizing and leading, even if Felicity has to hack something.
